This long stretch of beach is perfect for beginners. The beach is sheltered and stretches from Bempton cliffs to Filey. Lots of room for privacy and a great spot for a quiet calm swim.
Difficulty 1/5
Another long stretch of a sandy beach for swimming. Low tide swimming is best as you can avoid the shoreline white rocks and enter the sea on the sandy strech instead. There is a shop at the life boat station too which is great for refreshments!
Difficulty 1/5
This sheltered cove is great for those wanting a bit more advenure. The rocks cliffs and cave offer interesting swimming options with lots to explore. High tide is advisable for easier enrty into the water as the shore is rocky.
Difficulty 3/5
Another large sandy stretch of beach which is highly accessible via the cliff-top car park. It is especially ideal if you’re bringing a paddleboard, a two minute walkbfrom the car. Calm and sheltered conditions make a great swim for the whole family.

“The summer is a real challenge for me as a single mum with a son who has ADHD. Activities are expensive but with outdoor swimming we just need a change of clothes and a packed lunch. After joining Wild Water Warriors last year we’ve had so many great experiences. I think being in the water really helps him calm down and he’s never slept so well. The weekly meets are great, and we’ve made some friends for life at this club. I can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for us and the club!”

“After a stressful week at work, I can’t wait to get in the cold water. Fraisthorpe is my favourite and it’s not too far from home. After a swim I feel so much calmer and its great to just focus on my breathing and enjoy time alone in the water. This year I’m going to try and swim wild at least twice a week. This really has changed my life and I just feel like I can deal with problems a lot better at work and life in general.
